Excursion Routes
HelensvaleTransport Information
We will be using the Young Discoverers Mini Bus for all excursions – children on booster seats (under 7 years).
Ratio: 1:5 Up to 10 children; (If more than 10 children 2 trips will be made)
The children will all be school age (Prep- Year 6)
Risk assessments- including transport risk assessment, available on request.

Bus capacity, not including Driver
Helensvale mini bus: 10 passengers, 10 booster seats each (YD Driver and supervisor on each Bus) Max 10 children
Helensvale State School, 8 Lindfield Road, Helensvale
Route: Daily during School Term
Approx. 8 minutes each way
Route:
- Exit the centre
- Turn left onto Discovery Dr
- Turn right onto Lindfield Road
- Continue on until secure School Carpark is on the right
- Turn right entering secure Helensvale State School Carpark
- Destination will be ahead within the secure carpark… and opposite for return
Young Discoverers OSHC @ “The Well”

Approx. 15 minutes each way
- Depart Young Discoverers Helensvale 9.00am; Arrive at destination approx. 09.15am
- Leave destination TBA; Arrive at Young Discoverers Helensvale TBA
Route:
- Exit the centre
- Turn Left into Discovery Dr
- Turn Right onto Gold Coast Hwy/State Route 2,
- Continue onto Binstead Way and Gaven Arterial Rd
- Turn right onto Maudsland Rd.
- Turn Right onto Reserve Rd
- Turn Left onto Highland Way from the roundabout
- Continue on Highland Way…
- Destination will be on the left… and opposite for return
“Sickle Park” Hope Island
Date of Excursion: 18/09/2024
Sickle Ave, Hope Island
Approx. 15 minutes each way
- Depart Young Discoverers Helensvale @ 10.00am, Arrive @ destination 10.15am
Weather permitting, leave destination @ approx. 1.00pm; Arrive back @ Young Discoverers Helensvale 1.15pm
Route:
- Exit the centre
- Turn right onto Discovery Dr
- Turn right onto Helensvale Road
- At the large roundabout take the second exit onto Sickle Avenue
- Destination will be on the right… and opposite for return trip.
Broadwater Parklands
Date of Excursion: 20/09/2024
Marine Parade, Southport
Approx. 20 minutes each way
- Depart Young Discoverers Helensvale approx. 09.30am, Arrive @ destination 09.50am
- Weather permitting, leave destination @ approx. 01.30pm; Arrive back @ Young Discoverers Helensvale 01.50pm
Route:
- Exit the centre,
- Take Discovery Dr to Gold Coast Hwy/State Route 2
- Turn left onto Gold Coast Hwy/State Route 2
- Destination will be on the left… and opposite for return trip.
Galleon Park
Date of Excursion: 26/09/2024

Approx. 35minutes each way
- Depart Young Discoverers Helensvale: 9:30am. Arrive at destination approx.. 10.05am.
- Leaving at 1:30pm. Arrive at Young Discoverers Helensvale 02.05pm
Route:
- Exit the centre
- Take Discovery Dr to Gold Coast Hwy/State Route 2
- Turn right onto Gold Coast Hwy/State Route 2
- Merge left on M1
- Exit onto Staple Drive @ Varsity Lakes
- Turn left onto Old Coach Road
- Turn right onto Tallebudgera Creek Road
- Turn left onto Tallebudgera Connection Road
- At the roundabout take the first exit onto Guineas Creek Road
- At the roundabout take the second exit onto Galleon Way
- Destination will be on the left… and opposite for return t
