Young Discoverers has been my work-home since 1996! I feel privileged to have found a workplace that is fulfilling, that allows me to support the growth of children and their families and that has supported me in my own growth. I love my job and I love that our organisation creates a positive environment for the precious children we care for as well as their families and our educators. I was employed in 1996 as a Bachelor qualified preschool teacher (which was unheard of at the time!). Our foundation Director, Kathryn, recognised how very important a child’s early educational experience is and ensured that quality education and the highest standards in care were given priority. The foundation set all those years ago is what has built our centre into the one that I am so proud to be a part of today. I look forward to continuing my journey with Young Discoverers for many more years to come!

I have a Diploma in IT and spent my working life at a company in the city.  I missed not seeing my children, and decided to join the Young Discoverers team in the Admin position.  I feel very privileged to be able to watch the children at our Centre grow and learn, and to be the first point of contact for their parents/guardians.

I love working with children because I love being able to make a contribution to their lives. Guiding them, challenging them, inspiring them and watching their faces light up as they walk in the door is all the fulfillment I need!  Young Discoverers has given me many opportunities. I began as a trainee completing my Cert III to now I’m enjoying the opportunity to stretch myself even further as I step into the role of Assistant Director when needed.  I work for a very loving and caring Centre and company.  All four of my children have attended Young Discoverers!

What I love about my job is building a special bond with the children in my care, and having an influence in their early learning and development.  I love working at Young Discoverers as we work as a team, and are always happy to share ideas and give each other inspiration.  I love walking into work and feeling the Christian love from the staff and families!  It definitely is an honour and privilege to be a part of the Young Discoverers team!

Future plans:  I plan to one day do my Bachelor of Early Childhood.

Caring for young children and babies has always come naturally to me and I’ve loved interacting with them for as long as I can remember.  Young Discoverers HR exudes the same kind of love and care for all little members of our community.  It’s a genuine pleasure to work within a team that is not only encouraging and supportive, but that truly strives to enrich the lives of every person that enters our doors.

I love the childcare industry because I truly enjoy working with children and teaching them.  It’s such a rewarding job.  I also love music and I find it so rewarding to introduce my love of music to children, hopefully passing on this love to them!
