The new “Child Care Package” is coming in July 2018
The year 2017 is fast coming to a close and it is now that we start looking forward to the New Year and what is in store for 2018!
An important consideration for you will be the Government’s New Child Care Package which commences on 2 July 2018.
Under the new package, the existing Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate will be replaced by a new Child Care Subsidy.
The amount of subsidy that families will receive will be based on three things:
1. their combined family income
2. the level of ‘approved’ activity they undertake
3. the type of child care service they use.
The easiest way to work out how much subsidy you may be eligible for is through the Family Child Care Subsidy Estimator which is available here …
It’s easy to use and only takes a few minutes to fill out.
As we receive more information and come to understand the new processes we will of course share this so that you too can understand!
The New Childcare Package is here!
The new Childcare package is here! Be sure to go to www.education.gov.au/childcare should you need to know more!
As always, we are here to help so if you have your hourly entitlement and percentage information come and see us! We have a groovy estimator tool that will give us an “indicative” out of pocket estimate for you and will allow us to ensure that you are on the best solution to get the maximum benefits from your entitlements!
We’re adding to the Young Discoverers Family!
We are thrilled to be adding to our Young Discoverers family!
From July 17, 2018 we are very happy to announce that Young Discoverers will be the new licensee operating the Outside School Hours Care facility at Emmanuel College, Birmingham Road, Carrara.
We look forward to making new friends (or reconnecting with old ones!) as we embark on this exciting journey!
Busy Days at Young Discoverers!
Well it has been a whirlwind of activity within Young Discoverers! We are thrilled to finally have “opened for business” at Emmanuel College, providing Before and After School Care for the Emmanuel Community!
At Emmanuel College the OSHC rooms have been totally refurbished with a fresh new coat of paint and new carpets! Add to that a good clean up of existing resources together with a large new toy & resource order and the attending children’s eyes nearly popped out of their heads when they first entered! We are super excited by this opportunity and look forward to supporting the Emmanuel families in the same way we support ALL of our families!
The transition across to the new Childcare Subsidy has been somewhat challenging but we are getting there! Remember to ensure that you log in to your “MyGov” account and confirm Young Discoverers as your childcare provider if you still have that task on your “to do” list! Some “crinkles” are still being ironed out by the Department of Education and Training and Centrelink but it has been a huge change on many different levels so thank you for your patience and assistance! We are very appreciative!
As always, we are here to help, so always feel free to give us a call should you have any queries, questions or concerns!
Remember that if you make any changes to your booking that are of a permanent nature we will need you to log in to your “MyGov” account to confirm those same said changes please…
Many thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding as we all learn this new skill set that is the “Childcare Subsidy”!!!
Make learning fun…
Simple everyday moments help your child grow.
The new Make Play Everyday campaign recognises that parents and families play a major role in their child’s ongoing learning.
Through a series of short videos, articles and tips, we show parents how existing activities can play a part in their child’s development.
Using simple ideas, relevant to all ages, we show how easy it is for parents and families to incorporate play and learning into everyday activities.
Whether that is talking about what you see on the way to the park, singing nursery rhymes, pointing out something you both see out the window, or learning new words while shopping for groceries.
See how you can make learning with your child fun.
Visit The Early Years Count to discover easy activities that make learning fun.
Make Play Everyday is an initiative of the Queensland Department of Education.
Signing In and Out & Centrelink…
Signing In and Out… AND Centrelink & your Childcare Subsidies…
The daily signing in, and then signing out, of your child is a very important link in the provision of care… It is part of the process of releasing your “precious person” into our care for the day… Now it is an even more important step as without a signature in AND out, Centrelink will not pay any Childcare Subsidies that you may be entitled to…
Vale – Ken Higgins
Earlier today at CrossLife Helensvale we celebrated the life of Ken Higgins, the much loved husband of our “first ever” Young Discoverers Chaplain, Miss Gloria… Many of the Young Discoverers families, especially those from the early days at Helensvale will fondly remember Ken as Miss Gloria would often enlist his assistance at YD events! Usually those that required his amazing BBQ skills!!! xx
He passed away on peacefully on February 14th and is now in the arms of our heavenly Father…
